The YMCA of Greater Tulsa and the City of Owasso worked together to answer the Owasso community’s desire for a state-of-the-art recreational facility. Selser Schaefer Architects joined the collaboration to identify and prioritize program spaces that would make the new center a true community resource.
The YMCA initially envisioned replacing its outdated facility. Our firm proposed using the money that would be spent on demolition to instead renovate the existing facility — allowing the YMCA to expand and upgrade its services without increasing its budget. The resulting facility answered the community’s entire wish list. When it opened its doors as the first new YMCA facility in the Tulsa area in 30 years, membership levels went off the charts.
