In the world of theater and music, collaboration cultivates creativity. Such was the case in planning the fine arts addition of Broken Arrow Public School’s Freshman Academy. Selser Schaefer Architects and Perkins+Will, design architect, worked closely with the district to design a solution to spark the creative spirit of students and the community.
The project’s collaborative process started with programming sessions to draw inspiration from teachers, administrators and the superintendent. Exploring possibilities together helped the team envision numerous ideas for spaces that would foster learning and connecting with others.
The Freshman Academy’s fine arts addition not only inspires collaboration among students, but with the Broken Arrow community as well. The school now features a more distinct campus atmosphere with additional spaces for assembling. Courtyards and areas to gather before performances, for example, offer space to socialize, connect and be inspired.
