AIA Eastern Oklahoma (American Institute of Architects) and its Women in Design committee hosted the inaugural “Design Like a Girl” event on October 8, 2022. Design Like a Girl was created to introduce the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) to girls in 3rd—5th Grade, with the goal of increasing the number of women in the professions.
Four women from our office volunteered alongside others from our local design, engineering, and construction community to show future women designers, engineers, and constructors what careers in the AEC industry entail. It was a fun morning of design activities, architecture office tours, building tours, and mentoring with a great group of women and girls!
