When Tulsa’s Nathan Hale Branch Library opened its doors in the 1960s, it served as a valued resource to the surrounding neighborhood. Changes over time, however, reduced its accessibility to the community. The library’s entrance faced a shopping center and parking lot built to its north. Without Internet connectivity, the library was also struggling to be current. Talk of closing the library surfaced, but the neighborhood rallied.
By creating an inviting atmosphere with modern resources, Selser Schaefer Architects transformed the library back into an important community resource for children and adults to gather, access information and enjoy learning.
