For its eighth casino, Cherokee Nation Entertainment chose a site in Ramona, Oklahoma, where the first commercial oil well was drilled in what would become Oklahoma. Selser Schaefer Architects began the project by developing a phased Masterplan that enables consistent casino operations in a temporary facility while the permanent facility is completed.
Casino Ramona’s design combines the requirements of multiple CNE stakeholders and the casino’s functional needs with the prosperous heritage of oil-rich lands in Indian Territory. The architectural realization of the oil boom theme creates a feeling of energy and discovery. The result is a well-planned entertainment venue that has created excitement — and 200 jobs — for the area.
