NATHAN HALE BRANCH LIBRARY
Built in the 1960s, Tulsa's Nathan Hale Branch Library had ceased to effectively serve the needs of the community. Selser Schaefer Architects was challenged to transform the library back into an important community center for children and adults to gather, access information, and enjoy learning. We did so by creating an inviting atmosphere that connected indoor with outdoor spaces.
The main entry—which features a steel latticework canopy with a multicolored, multilevel, translucent panel roof system—was relocated from the north to the west, closer to parking. This allowed the creation of a larger meeting room and a designated children's area.
