EDMOND ANIMAL WELFARE FACILITY
The rustic design of this 8,000-sq.-ft. animal facility blends naturally with the surrounding hilly, wooded area. The building's exterior is composed of simple materials—brick, board-and-batten siding, with exposed steel trusses and a standing seam metal roof.

In creating a dynamic yet comfortable entrance, the building's lobby and adoption room spaces are defined using glass, wood planking, and a translucent ceiling. This maximizes natural views and day lighting while providing adequate shading and a sense of privacy as families 'interview' their future pets.

This project received a 2006 Merit Award from the Oklahoma Chapter of the AIA. The Cross Timbers Municipal Complex was also awarded the Public Works Project of the Year by the American Public Works Association, Oklahoma Chapter.
